Grant Guidelines

Mission Statement

The mission of the Murphy Foundation is to carry out the wishes of its founder Katherine Murphy Riley, as outlined in the document establishing the organization. The Foundation has generally limited its grant making as follows:

  • Funding Priorities:
Services for Children, Education, Environment, Human Services, and Catholic Organizations
  • Geographic Focus:
Atlanta, Georgia, and select areas of Latin America

Organizations outside of these parameters may be considered if encouraged to apply by members of the Advisory Committee.

Eligibility Requirements

The Trustees will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3). If you are a 509 (a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information.

Restrictions

Grant applications are by invitation only.

The timeline for the Foundation’s grant process is typically as follows: organizations are invited in the spring or early summer with a deadline of October 1. The Committee typically meets in November and notifications and grant awards are sent in late November or early December each year.
